About Altered

We help leaders be more human in a world accelerated by Artificial Intelligence.

Our story

Altered was founded on a simple belief: the best leaders are grounded, clear and deeply connected to themselves and aware of the context.

As technology scales, the value of the "un-automatable" rises. In a world where AI is fast-tracking complexity and pace, the most valuable leadership skills are human: clarity, creativity, empathy, resilience and the ability to make intuitive/gut decisions under uncertainty.

We combine British rigour in leadership thinking with Swiss precision in clinical wellness to create interventions that are as exacting as they are deeply human.

The result?

Leaders who are healthier, sharper and more effective, and organisations that thrive.

Meet the Founder

Jamie Robertson

Founder & Lead Advisor

Jamie is a successful entrepreneur with an exit under his belt, experienced in fundraising, growing start-ups and leading complex international organisations. Jamie has also advised organisations from start-ups to multinationals on governance, board composition, effectiveness and succession.

Combined with commercial expertise in executive coaching, leadership development and business transformation, he has worked with senior leaders across industries to help them perform at the highest level while staying healthy, grounded and human.

Armed with an Executive MBA (Valedictorian Honours) from IMD Switzerland, and trained in executive coaching, wellness disciplines and performance science, Jamie integrates clinical wellness with leadership coaching to create programmes that transform not just how leaders lead but how they live.

He leads with the belief that wellness is not a luxury for leaders. It is a performance requirement.

The Experts

Our experts do change depending on availability for the retreats, rest assured they are hand-picked for expertise and fit with Altered.

Advisor & Medical Lead

Steve is a senior clinician with not only 25 years of experience delivering healthcare but also spiritual care. He is an NHS Consultant in both Intensive Care and Metabolic Health and has designed and led services from cardiac critical care and exercise testing to a pioneering Fatigue & Breathlessness Clinic. He now delivers longevity and performance medicine programmes for clients at Fortius Clinic, London.

On the spiritual side Steve founded a UK Buddhist Charity in the 90s, taught meditation and breathwork internationally and trained with teachers of native traditions of the Americas including practices such as sweat lodges and vision quest.

Drawing on training in sleep medicine, functional medicine, psychotherapy and relational practices, he works with people who want to understand their own capacity to heal across their physical, social, mental and spiritual lives. He does this by using both the latest scientific insights and traditional methods that support reflective insights. This allows his clients to prevent disease, extend their health span and genuinely thrive despite high pressure.

Educated at Cambridge University and Barts and The London, and dual-qualified in anaesthesia and intensive care, Steve integrates hospital-grade diagnostics with lifestyle, psychological and recovery protocols to create programmes that change both how people feel day to day and their long-term health trajectory. He starts from the belief that our body-mind is inherently intelligent. Given the right support and inputs, it happily returns our mind and body to both ease and performance, the foundation of meaningful leadership and relationships.

Senior Clinical Advisor in Functional Medicine & Personalized Health Systems

Michael (Mike) Ash FRSM is a systems medicine strategist and clinician with over 40 years' experience in resilience, metabolic health, cognitive and physical performance, and longevity medicine and more than 25 years educating clinicians and practitioners in functional and integrative medicine internationally.

He is co-founder of FunctionalMind™, an AI-powered clinical intelligence platform for complex, systems-based healthcare, helping practitioners cut through cognitive overload and deliver personalised, longevity-focused care.

Qualified in osteopathy, naturopathy, and nutritional therapy, Mike specialises in translating complex physiology and emerging science into practical strategies that improve energy, metabolic flexibility, physical recovery, cognitive clarity and long-term performance.

At Altered, he helps participants convert deep physiological reset into sustainable gains in focus, physical adaptability, decision-making capacity and personal performance in an increasingly demanding world.

Our approach

At Altered, our values live where the future, science and soul meet. In a complex world where AI is gaining moment, the true edge is human: clear initiative, judgement, emotional range and physical vitality, built on evidence rather than opinion. Everything we design, from clinical interventions to coaching conversations, is grounded in data, discipline and measurable change, while honouring the reality of complex lives and leadership.

Our values

We value deep trust, meaningful relationships and meaningful work.

Future outperformance comes from embedding these beliefs in everyday behaviour: how we listen, challenge and support. We also protect stillness and space, creating conditions for leaders to step out of the noise, reset their energy and reconnect with what matters, drawing on forgotten human mechanisms, nature and community.

Partnership is the thread that runs through it all. We work alongside senior leaders, boards and organisations through inflection points, offering challenges without drama, and support without pretence.

Our programmes integrate:
  • Clinical wellness and diagnostics.

  • In-depth, integrated one-on-one coaching.

  • Behavioural experiments and practice.

  • Peer learning and accountability.

  • Evidence-based frameworks (psychology, neuroscience, performance science).

Our philosophy:
  • AI is a tool; humanity is your edge.

  • Start with health and energy, everything else flows from there.

  • Leadership is personal work - if you do not do the inner work, nor practice the learnings, nothing changes.

  • Sustainable outperformance built on grounded health, honest self‑knowledge and the courage to lead as a more fully human system with combined intelligence of our entire bodies, not just a smarter mind.

Who we serve

We work with:

  • Senior leaders, founders and high-performers across industries.

  • Organisations investing in leadership capacity and wellbeing.

  • Anyone willing to do the hard work to lead and live differently.
