Most leaders reach a point where they are still delivering but privately know something is not right. More hours than ever. The decisions take longer. The thinking is less sharp. The attention and focus required, at times, feels overwhelming. The energy that used to feel natural now must be manufactured.

Altered Outperformance is designed for that moment:

  • Designed and delivered by experts in leadership and functional, medical and spiritual health.

  • Enhance cognitive performance and resilience.

  • Recover sustained energy that carries you through a full day, not just the hours you are running on adrenaline.

  • Sleep better, think more clearly and stop relying on caffeine and willpower to keep going.

  • Gain clarity on priorities, direction and decision-making.

  • Reconnect with yourself, environment and deeper purpose.

For leaders carrying years of intensity and decision load, normal rest is not enough. Altered Outperformance is a structured leadership intervention that combines clinical oversight, deep physiological recovery and guided reflection to improve decision quality, resilience, clarity and leadership effectiveness. You return calmer, clearer and better equipped to lead.

This is a four-week programme built around a seven-day residential retreat. Participants remain in work during the two-week preparation phase and the one-week reintegration phase, both of which are delivered remotely and designed to fit around executive schedules. Only the retreat week is spent on site in the mountains.

During the residential week, participants follow one of two clinically supervised nutrition protocols:

a) a supervised water fast or

b) a low-calorie, high-nutrient protocol.

Track selection is determined through health screening, medical suitability and participant context. These protocols support the wider aims of the programme: reducing cognitive overload, restoring energy, strengthening self-regulation and creating the conditions for sharper thinking, deeper reflection and more effective leadership.

Clinical preparation, guided reset and careful reintegration strip away noise and reconnect participants with what matters most. We strongly encourage all participants to arrive ready for limited access to digital devices and media, ideally as part of a full digital detox.

Designed for organisations investing in the sustained performance of their most senior leaders, Altered delivers measurable change in the areas that matter most: decision quality, resilience, strategic clarity and leadership effectiveness. The return on that investment begins in week one and compounds over time.

What it is

Altered Outperformance is a leadership performance programme for senior leaders, founders, leading partners and C-suite executives. It combines two weeks of remote preparation, a seven-day residential retreat in luxury mountain chalets in Combloux, Megève, Haute-Savoie, and one week of remote reintegration.

The programme is deliberately structured to create meaningful change without requiring participants to be away from work for four weeks. The only in-person element is the seven-day residential retreat. The preparation and reintegration phases are delivered remotely, with a workload designed to be manageable alongside professional commitments.

It is a full-spectrum intervention that integrates leadership advisory, clinical insight, physiological reset and reflective practice. Participants are challenged physically, emotionally and intellectually, and supported throughout by an experienced multidisciplinary team. This is not a fasting retreat with leadership elements attached; it is a leadership programme designed to help high-performing individuals readjust how they think, decide, recover and lead.

Who it is for

  • Leaders who are still performing but privately know something needs to change in how they operate, how they lead and how they live.

  • Senior leaders, founders, leading partners and C-suite executives emerging from periods of sustained intensity, major transition or significant decision load.

  • High-performers seeking clarity on purpose, major life, commercial or career decisions, and the ability to return to their role with greater resilience, perspective and leadership effectiveness.

  • Anyone ready for deep personal work in a setting that matches the scale of their ambition.

Participants are carefully selected not only on health and suitability, but also on mindset, readiness and fit with the group. Each cohort is intentionally small, with a maximum of 12 participants and curated to ensure genuine peer calibre. You will share this experience with people operating at a comparable level, facing comparable pressures. A clear confidentiality framework applies throughout, with explicit expectations around privacy, discretion and respect for all participants.

The structure

    • Health screening and medical clearance.

    • Baseline health and cognitive assessments to establish each participant’s starting point and capture before-and-after change.

    • Gradual move to high nutrient foods, cleaner habits and intention setting.

    • Pre-retreat consultation with facilitators.

Over the first two weeks, participants complete a structured preparation process that includes health questionnaires, selected baseline testing, guided food reduction, digital wind-down, short expert-led out of hours webinars, reflection exercises and one-to-one preparation. The workload is meaningful but manageable for busy leaders, with most activities delivered remotely and designed to prepare both body and mind for the retreat week.

Baseline measures include home strength and flexibility test, comprehensive home finger-prick blood testing, sleep assessment using a disposable device, health screening with non-intrusive app-based tools. For cognitive baseline, app-based and questionnaire tools are used, focused on attention, working memory and decision quality.

  • Arrival, orientation and settling into two private chalets, side by side, with Mont Blanc views, five-star comfort, spa and recovery facilities. One reserved for fasting participants, one for the low-calorie protocol. Private suite for each participant.

Both chalets include games rooms, cinemas, private reading and quiet areas, swimming pools and spa facilities. House managers, both experienced in supporting fasting environments, are on hand throughout your stay. Housekeeping refreshes each suite daily.

Days one to seven: the residential retreat combines daily leadership-focused group sessions, check-ins, breathwork, yoga, journalling, guided hiking, time in nature and one-to-one expert support, alongside a clinically supervised nutrition protocol. Depending on suitability and participant context, you will follow either a supervised water fast or a low-calorie, nutrient-dense diet. The nutrition track is there to support the broader objectives of the programme: cognitive recovery, nervous system regulation, strategic clarity, deeper self-awareness, self-mastery and more sustainable leadership performance.

Wellbeing treatments are available, including deep tissue massage, shiatsu and lymphatic drainage, with our hand-selected on-site therapists. Limited access to digital devices and media supports meaningful distance from normal cognitive load and helps participants step out of habitual patterns of reactivity and overstimulation.

Guided hikes led by qualified mountain guides alongside members of the facilitation team. Extended time outdoors supports cognitive recovery, reduces rumination and creates space for real perspective and insight. Long walks in nature reliably reduce stress and loosen rigid thinking, it is often where the “stuck” decisions finally unstick.

Evening sessions covering expanding brain capacity, gut health, nutrition, digestion, movement, relationships, sleep, purpose and navigating complexity.

    One-to-one time with the experts.

    A typical retreat day includes

    • 08:30 Group check-in.

    • 09:30 Yoga and breathwork.

    • 11.00-16.00 Guided hiking and time in nature with experts.

    • 16.00-19.00 Sauna, pool, treatments, rest and journalling, one-to-one with experts as necessary.

    • 19.30-20.30 Group reflection and expert-led session on expanding brain capacity.

    • Limited device access and optional one-to-one support.

  • The final week is designed to help participants translate retreat insight into sustained behavioural and leadership change. It includes practical re-nourishing guidance, selected follow-up conversations and structured support to embed new habits around energy management, decision-making, reflection and personal leadership. The aim is not simply to help participants feel better for a few days, but to ensure they return to their roles with greater clarity, resilience and effectiveness.

    Structured daily integration support:

    • re-nourishing guidance

    • how to bring insights back into your life and leadership

    • a mix of online group calls (out of work hours), podcasts and one-to-one coaching sessions for questions, support, review of progress, reflections and next-step commitments.

Outcomes

Participants leave Altered Outperformance with:

01

Renewed energy and vitality, alongside a physical and emotional reset.

02

Profound clarity on what matters, what does not and what needs to change.

03

Improved decision-making ability, cognitive function and nervous system regulation.

04

A fresh perspective on leadership, personal challenges and opportunities.

05

A high trust peer connection with other leaders on a similar journey.

This is one of the highest-leverage investments a leader can make in long-term performance. It is not a wellness indulgence and not simply a fast, but a deliberate reset of a leader’s capacity to think clearly, decide well and lead sustainably under pressure. This all significantly improves self-mastery.

For sponsoring organisations

The most significant risk to organisational performance is not strategy, it is the accumulated cognitive and physical load carried by the leaders executing it. A burned-out, unclear or reactive C-suite costs an organisation far more than the investment required to reset your invaluable human capital properly.

Altered Outperformance Retreat is a unique, clinically grounded programme that delivers measurable changes in the areas that matter most to organisational performance: decision quality, resilience, strategic clarity and leadership effectiveness. It is not a corporate wellness initiative. It is a serious intervention for serious leaders.

For organisations sponsoring a participant, a separate corporate briefing note is available on request, including programme outcomes, clinical credentials and a summary appropriate for board or CFO review.

Altered Retreat

Common questions

  • No. Altered Outperformance is a leadership performance programme. During the residential week, participants follow one of two clinically supervised nutrition protocols.

  • Altered maintains local medical escalation arrangements in Combloux, Megève and Sallanches, with access to additional hospital care in Geneva if required. Emergency procedures are reviewed in advance as part of participant screening and onboarding.

  • Participants are strongly encouraged to minimise or suspend use of phones, laptops, media and AI tools during the retreat week. Limited access can be accommodated where genuinely necessary, but the programme is designed to create meaningful distance from normal cognitive load.

  • The cohort is intentionally small and curated. The programme is structured but responsive. Participants are encouraged to work closely with the expert team, listen to their bodies and engage in the experience in a way that is both safe and meaningful. Sometimes that is solitude, movement, stillness and sometimes it is discussion, stimulation or just rest.

Participants should expect shared meals if you are choosing not to fast. Group sessions and moments of personal reflection, all within a confidential and respectful environment. There is regular opportunity for one-to-one time with the expert team, both during the daily rhythm of the retreat and back at the chalet.

  • Private transfer is included to and from Geneva Airport or Sallanches station, and the retreat is hosted in Combloux, Megève, in the French Alps. Nearby villages are walkable or a transfer can be arranged via the House Managers.
